It is well known that the Island of Ischia is shrouded in legend and myths of past times. It is well known that Ischia is the favorite destination for many tourists thanks to its healthy waters properties but it is not well known that the Germans have been able to invest in it, becoming in this way proponents of the wellness tourism.

The structure of the Poseidon Gardens belongs to the Anton Staudinger's family and it is connected to the port by the bus line 2. It stretches on 50.000 meters up to the Citara bay. The thermal park has a story of ancient roots in culture and Teutonic tradition, linked to the Sebastian Kneipp's trouble, German presbyter, whose the first complaint dates back to 1853. He owes his success to Mr. Merkle, deputy in the Reichstag.

Big names characterize his life, proving the validity of his hydrotherapy methods, such as the publisher Ludwig Auer, who founded the first circle; Pope Leo XIII, who named him "Monsignor"; Alfred Baugmarten, founder of the first International Kneippian Doctors' Association. He was surnamed by the first cure "cholera chaplain" and afterwards he become inventor of one of the major therapeutic methods used today in all spas.

 

The Poseidon Gardens fascinate not only for the cold and warm baths at a temperature of 15°C or 40°C but also for the possibility to combine wellness and cure: there is an area with two types of water springs, (salt, bromine and iodine and salt-sulphate-alkaline) and a recommended but not required way dedicated to children with reduced admission to combine in one place the joy of kinds and the tranquility of adults. The result is a magic union of equal and different elements.

Beyond the different waters properties, the Poseidon Gardens allow to immerse oneself into colours and scent of lush vegetation: oleanders, typical ornamental plant with delicate roses that with the homonym garden is in contrast with the image of cactus; agave from which it is possible to obtain tequila, ibiscus, geranial, daisies, jasmines and finally the famous broom praised and very appreciated by Leopardi on the occasion of a short stay at the Vesuvius in Naples.

The scent of flowers suggest past memories that resurface in the image of "Grotta del Vino", a natural grotto surrounded by different aromas. Sipping a glass of wine, you can relax your senses among the twenty pools around the park; for lovers of the local cuisine there are a vast range of choices: fresh and genuine dishes will satisfy even the most demanding meat and fish lovers.

From the passion to the desire of ancient myths: inside the park there is a statue of God Poseidon from which derives the name of the park. It is located at the entrance with the bas-relief of "Patronae Bavariae et Ischiae", another reference to the Germanic culture. A story which combines men and nature: admiring the distinctive features, the three hundred steps of 'The Walk', the view is as relaxed as all the muscles of body do not feel the effort.

Punta Imperatore is the westernmost point of the island and the entire gulf of Naples: you can forget all problems only admiring the horizon in front of you. The same feeling you have in the sauna, dug into a natural rock, the tuff, a stone similar to a work of art where the light creates fantastic play of colors. By corollary, other services offered: the boutique, newsstand and the 'indoor pool'.
